And there is a valid reason behind my avoidance—my father is none other than Reed Philips, the esteemed head coach of the Western Wildcats. For as long as I can remember, our household has adhered to the unspoken rule that I maintain a safe and respectable distance from his players. Adhering to this rule has never presented a significant challenge, and it still does not. However, a recent incident involving Hayes Van Doren has reshaped the current situation.
